Textile Upcycling - No Sew T-Shirt Rugs with Secret Admirer Studio
Introducing our Textile Upcycling series with Secret Admirer Studio!
Turn your old, unwanted and/or stained t-shirts into a handmade rug! This no-sew technique is a fun and easy way to keep our textiles out of the trash while creating a one-of-a-kind usable art object. Participants will learn how to make a round or oval shaped rug that they can continue to work on at home.
No experience necessary. Supplies will be provided however please bring a pair of fabric scissors and a few t-shirts if you have them.
Bring any T-shirts you’d like to get rid of, whether you’d like to use them for your rug or donate them to another!
Secret Admirer Studio is a queer creative sewing studio that reworks and recycles textiles and clothes based in Kingston, NY.
A note on SLIDING SCALE:
When you pay at the top, you are helping the artist support and sustain themselves with their creative practice. You are also helping Holding Space to continue to provide programming to the community. If you can afford this option, it allows us to continue offering this series at an accessible price to more people.
When you pay in the middle, you are helping the artist & the space cover their costs.
When you pay at the base, you are letting letting community hold and support you and bask in all of the non-monetary gifts that you bring into a room.
All of these are acceptable ways of participating. If the low end of the scale is not accessible to you, please email us at hello@holdingspace.place
