Holding Space is Moving…

Our last day at 34 Broadway will
be Saturday, September 28, 2024

COME TO OUR CLOSING PARTY!

This is the end of the first little chapter of Holding Space. We will moving onward & upward toward another space (physical, virtual, ethereal, etc.). In such a short amount of time, Holding Space has felt such support and encouragement from a community that has shown up! We’re excited to keep growing and making special things happen with you all.

This first chapter couldn’t have happened without you. Eternal gratitude to the artists, writers, tarot readers, performers, designers, musicians, and event attendees who fueled us. We hosted such an incredible array of events with you:

  • 3 gallery openings with 90 different emerging artists throughout each of our curated gallery shows

  • 10 mic nights showcasing local talent, live music from Callie Mackenzie, and one live concert featuring Cammy Enaharo & Ongoing

  • Screening of Agnes Varda’s The Gleaners and I with Kingston Film Foundation to a packed audience

  • Unique workshops with over 30 local creatives, including Embroidery as Spellwork, Rug Making with Scraps, Come & Go Collage, and Zine Making with Cosmic Dog House

  • Held Space for over 40 grievers through our Dead Parent Club & Grief Groups

  • Met with over 50 small business owners & entrepreneurs in the Hudson Valley through our monthly Business Coven.

  • Facilitated at least a dozen crushes between queer cuties in Kingston ;)

Though this may seem bitter sweet, I (Bridget) believe it is a positive step toward something even better.  I’ve learned to much from this experience (a true dream) and can’t wait to continue amplifying artists and creatives in the future. Thank you so much for making it so magical and showing me what's possible.

Starting September 4th we’ll be discounting all of our gift shop inventory. We’ll be running weekly sales:

September 4-8: 10% *
September 11-15: 20%
September 18-22: 30%
September 23-27: 40%
September 28: last day!!! 50%!

* fine art does not qualify for the discount, but all fine art purchases will come with a free gift through September!

What’s next? We’re looking for a new location!

My business partner (Christine of Peace Love Vintage) and I (Bridget Badore, founder of Holding Space) will be going separate ways and I will be looking for a space that better suits the vision for Holding Space. It’s a positive move! I know y'all love 34 Broadway but the same magic will be brought somewhere else.

We do not have a new space lined up yet. We’re hoping to stay in the Kingston Waterfront neighborhood & would love to take some time finding the right space, which could be ASAP or months from now. I'm not sure what this will look like yet, but you'll all be kept updated along the way. If you don't already follow our newsletter, please do!

While we're between spaces, I'm hoping to continue hosting events like parallel play, soft crit, grief group, dead parent club, etc. online over zoom (or IRL! Looking at doing weekly or monthly popups at other spaces – open to suggestions!). I'll also be working on some projects that don't require a permanent space (like a gallery pop up in Chicory Naturalist and tangible art projects with local printers like Cosmic Dog House Press & The Department of Things).

ADD TO OUR YEARBOOK!

We’ll be putting together a HOLDING SPACE SEASON 1 YEARBOOK zine.

If you have photos or art you've made at the space

that you'd like to include, please upload them here!

DON’T MISS OUT

Thank you so much for such a magical season at 34 Broadway. This was never meant to be our permanent location, but it has been so special to see what we could do while we were here! If you haven’t already heard Bridget ramble about the story of how this all happened, you can read it on her newsletter shortly.
