Living in these fragile bodies, navigating beliefs that become complicated, moving through connections that are fleeting and relationships that inevitably change – we are no strangers to grief. Nothing lasts exactly how long we’d like it to; even our memories shapeshift as time spirals on. The desire to hold on to what we love, what we miss, what we’ve been looking for – it’s the nature of being human. Is it possible to feel comfortable while allowing messages and meanings to continue to emerge, long after the moment has passed? In a culture obsessed with legacy, what does it mean to celebrate the ephemeral? This exhibition includes artwork from over 30 local mid-hudson artists in Holding Space’s Kingston, NY community. Some pieces might feel familiar, echoing another iteration of this space, this moment, this season. Together, we keep tending to the ever-changing web of existence, overlapping and interweaving over and over at different moments.
Artists include Bridget Badore, Chris Baker, Maëlis Bekkouche, Meryl Bennett, Aurora Brush, Liridona Duraku, Karlie Flood, Emily Gaynor, Pupa Lamb, Callie Mackenzie, Linds Mueller, Adrianna Newell, Johnny Owens, Alexandra Peacher, Sasha Sun, Alex Testere, & Becca Van K.
